Filmed by Richard Hammond and Alex Cantouris. A Green Traveller production.
Foreword by Manuel Butler, Director of the Spanish Tourist Office in the UK
The Spanish Tourist Office is delighted to collaborate with Green Traveller on this documentary on sustainable travel to Spain, showcasing the best of the country’s green offerings and how the country is a diverse year-round destination.
The Spanish Tourist Office aims to create a socially inclusive tourism model which is beneficial to both visitors and locals alike, promoting staying longer, travelling in a slower more meaningful way, and enjoying local experiences.
From the scenery of Aragón, the rugged rural tourism of Asturias, the Sierra Espuña regional park in Murcia, ancient Cantabria, birdwatching in Extremadura to the lesser-visited historical cities such as Valladolid, we look to promote routes that take travellers off the beaten track.
This video showcases a variety of Spain’s sustainable highlights, including the impressive natural landscapes and how best to enjoy outdoor adventures. It also shows some of the incredible cuisine that Spain has to offer, spotlighting the experiences available through local producers and artisans. Promoting lesser-known gems, it offers a look into how travellers can delve into the history and culture of the destinations visited.
Through this collaboration with Green Traveller, the Spanish Tourist Office hopes to encourage geographical diversification, off-season travel and true cultural immersion, providing inspiration for a responsible visit to Spain.
