Did you know?


  • Belize is the only English-speaking country in Central America. Belizeans also speak the Kriol language and many also speak Spanish.

  • Belize's Barrier Reef is the largest barrier reef in the Northern Hemisphere. In 1996, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is comprised of seven protected areas: Bacalar Chico National Park and Marine Reserve, Blue Hole Natural Monument, Half Moon Caye Natural Monument, South Water Caye Marine Reserve, Glover’s Reef Marine Reserve, Laughing Bird Caye National Park and Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve.

  • The currency of Belize is the Belize dollar (BZD), which is locked to the American Dollar, $2 Belize = $1 USD.
